The Best of 2009: Article

December 3, 2009

Gwen Bell’s The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge continues–one topic each day in December!

Best Article?
You’ve got to be kidding. I’ve read so much this year and I’ve grown like crazy. I can’t narrow that down to only one article–like, give me a break! That’s like asking me to name my favorite food for all of 2009–not going to happen!

I’m going to define “article” broadly here. I get to…it’s my blog! So here’s some juicy sources that have contributed to my growth in 2009.

Helene Van Manen is a exceptionally gifted, intuitive, playful and excellent life and business coach. Helene is a wise and beautiful woman, both inside and out! She is also an outstanding retreat coach. She has blessed me with her “articles” of encouragement and challenges throughout the year. No, they’re not posted on “Delicious”, but they are imprinted on my heart and life forever. She has taken me places I never could have gone–personally and professionally. I am grateful.

The beginning of 2009, I was deep in the heart of being called to something deeper, bigger and bolder. I was referred to Mynde Mayfield by a writing coach. I read her blog and B-I-N-G-O. I knew she knew her stuff. She is hilarious. She is skillful. And she was instrumental in pushing me towards my inner tech brilliance–no laughter folks…I do have it! I went from conquering Blogger to moving to the big one–Wordpress. Along the way, Mynde has been an exceptional support in helping me navagate, understand and tame some long-standing fear issues. I am grateful.

Now here’s an understated guy–Charlie Gilkey is a genuine and astute man. Can I put my finger on one article/blog? Absolutely, not. But his richness keeps flowing from his blogs. His generosity keeps going like an energizer bunny. I have never met Charlie personally, but he has helped me get some of my “productivity vs. activity” issues worked out. I am grateful

There was something fundamental missing in my writing. I had taken a long writing course, but I came up empty. Something wasn’t right. It didn’t feel right. I didn’t feel like me. Enter Mark Silver’s blog. There it was in black and white–just what I need–to look at business from the heart–my heart and the heart of my client. Speaking to their pain and their problem. Letting a wanna-be client be seen and heard when visiting my website. Make them feel comfortable by speaking from their perspective, not mine. I’ve been taught to give the old “I’m a coach…blah, blah, blah.” Who really cares? The client’s question is, “Can you help me solve my problem? Do you ‘get’ me?” Mark speaks to this in his soft voice, but with much boldness. I am grateful.

So there you have it. I’ve broken the rules of the “Best of 2009 Challenge” in only three days in.

What’s coming your way? Are you noticing opportunities? Resources? Have to taken your GB (gratitude break)? Get filled up. It’s free!

Blessings!
