It’s been a cold, dry April here in the UK. We held off sowing lots of seeds.
As in the garden so in life: I wasn’t ready yet!
I had some underlying assumptions that one year on from the first lockdown here in the UK + easing of restrictions back on the 12th + spring energy I’d feel ready for anything.
At the same time, I had an inkling I’d find the transition out of more difficult than being in, lockdown: suddenly the big picture comes in to view and the uncertainty is scary.
Yep, the latter version was my reality.😔
I remembered what had worked in the past: let go of trying to control outcomes. SURRENDER!
I accepted that I was in a low space. I declared myself mentally under par. I gave myself permission to take time off and to not know what was next.
What happened when I did so?
Turned out I qualified for some health plan therapy that I hadn’t even known about beforehand.🙏🏼
I looked at all the areas where I feel stuck.
I changed up my daily routines: put journalling (so bored of the same old thoughts on the page!) and listening podcasts on hold. Lots of long walks with my four-legged friend instead.🐕
I’ve been reading fiction and listening to audio books. I can heartily recommend The Funny Thing About Norman Foreman BTW!😂
I even gave myself permission not to garden.😲
As a result, my next steps have become clearer, much clearer.
What might it look like to gift yourself some permission in your life?
It’s Beltane this weekend, the next festival in the seasonal Celtic calendar, half way between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. A time to celebrate love and relationships.❤️
Our wedding anniversary is on 2nd May. I am giving myself permission to fully enjoy that.😊
Wishing you a happy bank holiday weekend however you’re spending it.
