Listening To Your Body

There was no perfect answer to how I got started on my slowing down journey.

I shared yesterday how ‘context was decisive’, but otherwise it was a mixed bag.

First up, my body had already slowed down!

A gynae procedure six years ago led to an early menopause. I knew from my work with women in transition that (1) it can take a while to appreciate what’s going on😳 and (2) it takes energy to deal with hormone changes.

I’m now know that this doesn’t mean it’s going to be like this forever😅….but it can take a while to find your new normal.

In the meantime, I had a choice: I could walk the talk, embrace this time and the opportunity inherent within it…or I could fight it.

I chose to embrace it and gave myself permission to slow down.💖

This included setting some firm boundaries for myself: 9pm ‘tech off & get ready for bed’ alarms; getting up earlier than the rest of the house to have some quiet time to meditate and start the day gently; and scheduling my work between Monday PM and Friday lunchtime.

What is your body telling you right now?

Remember, slowing down for now doesn’t mean forever.😉

Let’s flourish together!
