Peace and money

In that lovely, wide-open space travelling back from holiday, husband and I started talking about finances. I noticed myself stiffening my hold on the steering wheel and feeling defensive. The space suddenly felt contracted, clunky.

We chose to leave it and enjoy the scenery instead.

But I knew this was important. We’ve been stuck around this area for a while: in a pattern which involves each of us being ‘right’ and also feels like deja vu.

Perhaps you can relate?

My daily reading yesterday – I open randomly from a small pile of special books😊 – was titled ‘Choose Peace’.

What would it look like if I was choosing peace in this area?🤔

So yesterday evening I requested we have a money conversation AND that we try something different…even though I didn’t know exactly what that looked like!🤷🏻‍♀️

How about we simply listen to each other for what’s important, what we each want? Each take responsibility for noticing our triggers? Give ourselves permission to speak without concern for what we think the other is thinking?

So that’s what we did.

We started the conversation rather than having THE conversation.

I’m curious how we’ll move forward from here🤔.

For now, I know that it felt different to finish with a calm, open feeling rather than a sinking one.

Possibility is awakened…🤗

Let’s flourish together!
